Here we talk about what it's like to be 45 Plus, adjusting to the changes that come with time, and will listen to the stories of our participants. If you have an interesting story to share, we would love you to participate, you can email us on info@aleksandrawalker.com or visit our website, www. aleksandrawalker.com

Hi, everyone, and welcome to my podium My Story project, and today with us in the studio do and while she's sitting in the makeup chair and Citra is doing makeup for her. I'll be asking her a few questions. Hi, Joo, welcome.

Hi.

Tell us a bit about yourself. Yeah,

I'm turning 50 this Christmas. And I'm a full-time worker and I'm single mom. My daughter she's 16 years old this year. 1616 Yeah. I'm a cat lover. I'm a loyal care person. I can't stand fake and lie people. That's why I have a lot of hate her and I'm pretty sure. Yeah, I just can't stand it. I do respect to the person who gave me respect. Yep. My dream vacation is going to Spain and New Zealand. But um, in the end of this year, my partner takes me to somewhere else. Yeah.

You’ve already been away? Or are you still going?

We will go

Do you know where?

I know. He will take me to Switzerland. I never dream of Europe before because it's not about detonation, you know? It's about companion. Yeah. And I'm single for quite a long, long time. And there's something to it. Yeah. Very excited. Yeah. Okay. And I love music. I always enjoy to listen to music. And yeah, my passion is to be a singer, but I never had a chance or opportunity to take class to become you know, like, how to learn to be a singer or something. I love coffee and pastry and bakery stuff. But um, I try to backe but I feel like I lost appetite. Yes. Food as well. So I always enjoy the food that the people could cook for you. Yeah,

you mean you cook or you bake? What do you bake usually?

I used to bake muffins. And easy cake. My sister she a fan of you know, she tried to teach me but I'm not in with that. Yeah, yeah. I just, I that's not my passion. And I'm currently dating very romantic kiwi men. He is kind, humble and kind of a transparency person. And I feel like I'm very lucky. And um, I feel very good about him and hope he feels the same. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's all about me

So what are you most passionate about?

passionate about? Is some music and travelling. Yes. Yes. And it is not a job interview. So I can say that um, I still drink sometime and joy to go out and sometimes I go by myself at the cafe having a coffee and you know, look at the people

What kind of music do you like?

Any any. Yeah, but my partner he's some musician too. But he's doing Jam jazz. Yeah, I kind of love so and that and pop and anything

Do you play any music instrument?

I don’t. Yeah, that's me. Yeah.

You just enjoy the sound of it.

Yeah, my brother who's a musician too, but he's not doing for the living, he's lawyer. But he can play the guitar.

Everyone knows that with age we change. But what positive changes? Have you experienced so far? Turning 50 this year?

I feel more humble and calm. But you know that that is come with something like menopause. Yeah, yeah. So I am lucky at one. I am early menopause so many years ago. Yeah. So I had to live with it and have to control the emotions. And yeah, because our hormones swing. So yeah, I had a problem with emotional change. Very quick, up and down. Some people say that they cannot sleep at night or got like hot flush. You know, hot flush. But no, no, I don't have that. Yeah, only the emotional. Yeah, yes.

I'm with you.

Yeah, because I went to see the doctor. And she like she told me that you are too young. But um, I can send you to the specialists. They do blood tests and everything. So yeah,

but I know that some women start experiencing first symptoms in their early 40s. Even

I think I was not even 43 yet at that time. Just 42. So it came up early,

It looks like with this age Menopause comes early. Yeah. I don't know why. Yeah.

Maybe its your family background. You know, like, mom, and you can ask your mom and your sister. Yeah.

Anyway, but what is the biggest challenge you experiencing with age?

I think that the menopause. Yeah. And I have to deal with it. Yeah. But because of I had this first, I can share it with my close friend, and then explain to them and how you deal with it.

So you were like the first one?

Yeah, very first.

It's very good. Yeah. Because it's not much information about it. And if you can hear the information from the first person, then it wouldn't be great. So describe your greatest accomplishment so far.

And I said, I'm a single mom. So the main thing I'm proud of is my daughter. So I have to show them I have to show her how to live her life. Yeah. You can't teach the kid you know, we are like a mirror. So just show them. If we have, we'll be live happy. And um, yeah,

Being an example. Yep. Yep. Yep. Perfect. So I love this question. Because it just makes you think back. So if you could meet your 30 year old self, yeah. What advice would you give her?

Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Just enjoy your life. You know and be confident. Yeah, yeah. Because I had luck of confident to when I was at that, like feel insecure and worry too much. And never never happy with that moment. Yeah. Which I regret sometimes, but it's gone it parts a moment yet. Enjoy. Enjoy your moment. And we don't know we can live until 60 or not. Like if you ask 30 Right now, who knows? Yeah, maybe there's no more 40 for you. There's just yeah, just leave it enjoy today. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

And what would you say to younger women who will eventually reach our age and undergo changes were going through so what would you tell them?

Don't be scared.

There is life after 45.

Yeah, yeah. We don't know we can have tomorrow or not. That's what I tell myself all the time. So should leave it today. Yep. So it doesn't matter about number Its like how, you enjoy your life and live your life right now. Yep.

It's the way.. what do they say… It's the path, not the destination or something like it. When we talk about our early age, we all always say like, we were not that confident, you know, and we were insecure, you know, not happy with our looks. So, where do you think this idea of a perfect image or even a perfect body image comes from?

Within darling, within. If you have if from inside, the outside is gonna be perfect

Yep. So you think that our idea of perfect body we create ourselves? it's not the media?

Everyone looks pretty as the way they are. We are different. We are unique. So everyone is a beauty, just be confident. Like even me. I got brown skin. I'm not confident for red (colour). I never had red colour in my closet. But when I look at the woman, her skin darker than mine, but she looks great with red and bright colour. She's confident. Yeah, I don't have it.

So you don't wear red dresses because you think that

yeah, I always think that red is not my colour. But I brought one red (dress). I never wear it. I always thought red is not my colour.

Today's the right time and place you can try something different, that you never tried before.. Big change, big step – wearing a red dress ... So what does it mean to you feeling good and looking good? What comes first?

I think feeling good. Comes first, for every moment. If you feel it's right, if you feel it right, you know, so everything gotta be ok. You gotta be okay.

Yeah. Okay. And what makes you feel the most beautiful?

Comfortable. Like when I'm talking with you, I feel comfortable. Surrounded with real people, when we are having the conversation which is real. I think it's very healthy. And that beautiful moment, in term, to me in terms of healthy is not about your look. Is it mean? Your physical, your mental, and your emotional? Yeah. So we have to surround ourselves with healthy people. Yeah.

I agree that they will make you feel beautiful… like if you surround yourself with the Healthy People meaning like emotionally healthy. And they make you feel comfortable and so you feel beautiful. Yes. That’s an interesting chain, logical. Okay, and do you have any favourite quote quotes or sayings about being a woman?

I love two. One is from Serena Williams. She said, “Just believe in yourself when no one else does”. And the other one is from my favourite one. It's um Coco Chanel. “Don't be like the rest of them, darling...” Something like that. Yeah. Try to be different. Yeah. Because we are unique.

That's really nice. Well, thank you very much for joining our project for sharing your thoughts today. I hope you will have enjoyable photoshoot and we will try red dress.

My pleasure.

Thank you, very much.
